Mr. Randy Oostra and the Board of Directors of ProMedica:

We, the leaders of the Christian community of Northwest Ohio, stand as representatives called to “speak out for those who cannot speak, for the rights of all” (Proverbs 31:8). It is our joy and duty to profess and defend the universal truth that every human life is sacred, made in the “image and likeness of God” (Genesis 1:27) and “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14).

This truth about the human person compels us to speak up for the vulnerable in our community, including the unborn. And right now the unborn are even more vulnerable because ProMedica Health has entered into a transfer agreement with Capital Care Network. This agreement in essence keeps the abortion facility open so that it can continue aborting children, all of whom are precious in God’s sight. We understand that the board may feel caught in the middle of something they didn’t ask for, nonetheless, now is the time to take a stand for the most vulnerable of the human family.

This issue goes to the core of what it means to be a health care provider. For according to the call and purpose of all health care, the work of all medical professionals is to promote the best interests and well-being of each patient, allowing no harm to come to any individual. As people of faith and reason, we remind you as the Board of ProMedica that to collaborate with or enable any establishment that deliberately destroys human life is to abandon the very mission of health care and those whom you exist to serve.

Because you are part of an institution that “believe[s] that no one is beyond the reach of life-saving health care,” we respectfully urge that you honor the ProMedica Mission Statement by extending that reach to those most vulnerable members of our community—unborn children.

We, the undersigned leaders of the Christian community of Northwest Ohio, thus implore you to rescind the transfer agreement immediately which is currently in place between ProMedica and Capital Care Network, which continues to abort innocent children in the womb.

God’s blessings to you and every member of ProMedica’s administration, staff, and volunteers.

Respectfully in Christ,
